The article shows the problems of people who, marked by extreme poverty, limit their functioning to meet basic needs, but in extreme difficulties they refer to God's interference, show their attitudes towards religion and characterize their own religious behavior. Some analyzes show the individual and social effects of life in the culture of poverty, including reducing the celebration of religious holidays to experiencing mainly material shortages.The article also contains the results of sociological research referring to homeless religiosity.
The main source of the analysis are the "Diaries of the unemployed" published in 1933, as well as the contemporary "Diaries of the unemployed" published in the years 2003 - 2006. The biographical materials of the poor contain many religious threads of reflection on their own existence, on the sense of fighting poverty, a sense abandonment and loneliness. As indicated my research, the poor in extremely difficult problems, which cannot be remedied using proven mechanisms, they refer to spiritual issues - faith, doubt and loss of faith, the possibility of completing the decalogue. The article also tackles the issues of moral evaluation of poor behavior and their religious location.
