Apocalypse of St. John as an early Christian prophecy

Abstract

In the study special attention was paid to the following points: historical and religious context of writing; features of the prophecy; main directions of contemporary interpretation of Ap. Among the special features of the prophecy of the Apocalypse, the following are discussed: liturgical context of the prophecy; original symbolism; relation to eschatology. The prophecy of Ap refers mainly to eschatology, however, some symbols may have timeless potential.
