Religiousness among young people in Slovakia in the process of transformation

Abstract

The paper deals with the problems of changes in religiosity of Slovak youth during the past few years (2006-2016). It is based on theoretical reflection that refers about basic theories in sociology of religion and the main scenarios of religious changes in the contemporary world. The paper works primarily with empirical data from two sociological researches of religiosity of the youth from the Spiš diocese in northern Slovakia. The results of the presented researches do not support only the scenario of progressing secularization and the intensification of the phenomenon „belonging without believing”, but partially also the scenario of stabilizing or even revitalizing of the religiosity of young people.
